Sub-Forum on China-ASEAN Digital Transformation Cooperation Concludes at the 9th Digital China Summit

  On the afternoon of April 28, the Sub-Forum on China-ASEAN Digital Transformation Cooperation of the 9th Digital China Summit was successfully held in Fuzhou. Hosted by the National Data Administration and organized by the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission, the sub-forum aimed to strengthen digital economy cooperation with ASEAN countries and provide a platform for exchange and collaboration. Zhao Zenglian, Vice Governor of Fujian Province, and Song Xianrong, Deputy Director of the Department of Data Resources, National Data Administration (and Head of the Preparatory Group for the Department of International Data Governance and Cooperation), delivered opening remarks. Speakers included Norfarina Mohd Azmee, Minister at the Embassy of Malaysia in China; Parulian Silalahi, Minister at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in China; and Le Trung Kien, Economic Counselor at the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in China. Cui Lin, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission, presided over the sessions. The event was attended by 100 representatives from government, business, and academic circles across China and ASEAN countries, as well as international organizations.

  The sub-forum, themed “China-ASEAN Digital Collaboration for a New Digital Future,” focused on strengthening cooperation between China and ASEAN countries in the digital economy. Through diverse forms such as thematic sessions and roundtable discussions, participants held in-depth exchanges on topics including opportunities for ASEAN’s digital transformation, practices and experience in international cooperation in the data sector, green transformation of digital infrastructure, and the development and application of data elements.

  During the thematic sessions, participants focused on the opportunities facing ASEAN in its digital transformation, expressing hope to seize these opportunities amid the digital wave, expand areas of multilateral cooperation, and jointly promote steady, long-term collaboration in the digital economy. Officials from the local data administrations of Fujian, Henan, Hainan, and Yunnan provinces introduced their practices in international data cooperation and shared their achievements in digital development. In the roundtable discussions, 12 participants conducted in-depth exchanges on topics such as the green transformation of digital infrastructure and the development and application of data elements, from the perspectives of research and development, technological innovation, industrial application, talent cultivation, and data circulation. They shared experiences in sustainable development and jointly explored paths for digital transformation.
